A trip to Bicolandia excited me much especially that I have no “known” relatives who are from Bicol and since most of them are from Visayas,NCR, or central Luzon. Upon our arrival at the Legazpi Domestic Airport, we went straight to one of the newest city attraction- Lignon Hill Nature Park.
Entrance to Lignon Hill Nature Park
The hill used to be an observatory deck for PHILVOCS to monitor the activities of great Mayon which made me presume that this park can offer a perfect view of the whole Legazpi area- and indeed it was. A 360 degree view of the Daragang Mayon (Mount Mayon) and the surrounding plains extending up to the gulf of Albay will give any “first -timer” a halt.
A quick pose while taking trek breaks
Before one gets to see the view, Lignon Hill requires a 156 meter high hike where you will pass by a hanging bridge, historic Japanese tunnels, Kapit tuko trail, and some very relaxing gazebos to stop by. On top, there caters souvenir shops, some scanty food stations and an exciting zipline.

This place is very recommendable for those who would love to add a little hike adventure on their Bicol trip. So the next time you go to Bicol and plan of taking a picture at the Cagsawa ruins- try Lignon Hill and experience a different Bicol.
