Black Sand of Bacacay Beach

The volcanic activity of mount Mayon gave way to a very unique composition of some areas in Bicol. Bacacay beach in Santo Domingo which is only 30 minutes to an hour drive from the capital  is also known as the Maui Beach of the Philippines.

The area is not well known to most tourists, yet locals flock the area for leisure swimming and a lot others do fishing for a living. On an interesting note, the beach is free of harsh waves which is makes the area a perfect place for swimming and relaxation.

Unfortunately, the place has not been kept tidy and may just be an abandoned beach with a promising future of tourism.
